Storage Section

A storage section is a subdivision within a storage type that groups similar storage bins together.

The storage sections within a storage type becomes a mandatory only when storage section control or storage section search strategy are set in that storage type.

1. Create and assign Storage Section Indicators in the Product master 

• Defined manually
• Determined automatically by slotting

2. Maintain Storage Section Search Sequence

To determine the storage section during putaway warehouse task.

The system first determines the storage type and then searches for the storage section that must be created for that storage type.

You can also influence storage section searches using the following indicators:

• • Hazard ratings 1 and 2

The system only considers the hazard ratings 1 and 2 if you have activated them in hazardous substance management

3. Activate Storage Section Check / determination

Below values influence the storage section check and determination.

• No Storage Section Determination or Check
• Storage Section Determination and Check
• Storage Section Determination; No Check

Activating the storage section check enables the system to locate the bins under the storage section specified in the product master, preventing the override of a storage bin with a different storage section.

Activating only the storage section determination allows the system to override the storage bin with a different storage section.

***Storage section determination is not applicable for stock removal.
