Integration Between SAP ERP and SAP EWM

Business Process

This integration requires to establish the connections between ERP business process (Inbound, Outbound, Production integration) and EWM system.

1. Generate Distribution Model for Transaction Data Transfer to SAP EWM

Distribution model determines how objects are transferred from SAP ERP system to SAP EWM systems by qRFC

System creates below objects

  1. OutboundDeliverySPE

  2. InboundDelivery

  3. ManufacturingOrder objects

PATH: IMG > Integration with Other SAP Components > Extended Warehouse Management > Basic Settings for EWM Linkage > Generate Distribution Model for Transaction Data Transfer to SAP EWM

2. Define Queue for transfer to SAP EWM

3. Log Sent and Received Messages: To log the inbound and outbound error messages

Define ERP Document Types for Differentiation Attribute

The differentiation attribute allows for the mapping of an ERP item type to multiple item types within EWM. Meaning, it provides the flexibility to manage items in EWM through various methods.

SAP has provided specific profiles to identify the differentiation attribute used for determining ERP item types that you cannot change. Every profile contains one field from the delivery interface of the ERP system, which is assigned values from the ERP system.

  1. RETCU: Profile for customer returns.
  2. SCRAP: Profile for scrapping deliveries.
  3. TRANS: Profile for stock transfers
  4. ITEM: Profile as a general differentiation attribute.

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Delivery Processing > Define ERP Document Types for Differentiation Attribute

Map Document Types from ERP System to EWM

In this activity, the ERP document type is mapped to the EWM document type. When the delivery is distributed to the EWM system, it determines the EWM document type.

  • Multiple ERP document types can be mapped to a single EWM document type.
  • The business system name can serve as an optional key for mapping document types.
  • Additionally, a code initiator can be used to map the same ERP document to different EWM documents to establish varied processes.

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Delivery Processing > Map Document Types from ERP System to EWM

Map Item Types from ERP System to EWM

In this activity, the ERP item type is mapped to the EWM item type. When the delivery is distributed to the EWM system, it determines the EWM item type.

  • Multiple ERP item types can be mapped to a single EWM item type.
  • The business system name can serve as an optional key for mapping document types.
  • Additionally, differentiator attributes can be used to map the ERP item type to multiple EWM item type

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Delivery Processing > Map Item Types from ERP System to EWM

Map Date Types from ERP System to EWM

In this activity, you can map date and time type from ERP to EWM. The system will store the date and time at either the document header or item level, depending on the mapping configuration. To store the date and time at the header level, you should assign only the document type.

The warehouse request distinguishes between the following:

  • Start and end date/time
  • Planned and actual date/time

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Delivery Processing > Map Date Types from ERP System to EWM

Control Message Processing Dependent on Recipient

This activity is required to report HU data from EWM to ERP

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Delivery Processing > Control Message Processing Dependent on Recipient

Advanced Production Integration

Map SAP ERP Order Type to SAP EWM Document Type

In this activity, you map the order type of the manufacturing order in SAP ERP to the document type of the production material request in EWM.

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Production > Map SAP ERP Order Type to SAP EWM Document Type

Map SAP ERP Order Type to SAP EWM Item Type

In this activity, you map the order type of the manufacturing order in SAP ERP to the item type of the production material request in EWM.

  • To distribute the manufacturing header in EWM, an entry for item category OCP must be created.
  • To distribute a manufacturing item in EWM, an entry for the item category CMP must be created.
  • Additionally, you can create and use a product group to map the same document type to various EWM item types.

PATH: IMG > SCMEWM > EWM > Interfaces > ERP Integration > Production > Map SAP ERP Order Type to SAP EWM Document Type
